Creating and Developing Links between Schools and Community Sports Clubs
The School Club Link work strand will create and develop links between schools and community sports clubs to support an increase in the number of young people accessing community sports clubs
The 2008-2011 strand will continue to be delivered by Sport England in close partnership with the Youth Sports Trust, National Governing Bodies and the Child Protection in Sport Unit. It will continue to;
● Create High Quality sports club opportunities for young people that are welcoming, safe, high quality and child friendly.
● Create High Quality environments which encourage participation of children and young people.
● Offer activity programmes which included provision for talent development, incorporating the principles of the Long Term Development model.
● Provide access to activity programmes to all sections of community.
● Recruit and develop coaches and volunteers (including young people) to promote the best possible activity programmes
Rawmarsh School Sport Partnership are keen to ensure young people have a smooth and natural transition from school to club organised sport. We also recognise the importance of providing High Quality Sport in an environment that is recognised as safe and fun. Effective links between schools and clubs will not only encourage young people to adopt healthier lifestyles and enjoy sport, but will also provide opportunities for young people to develop their coaching, officiating and leadership skills, making new friends within the community along the way.
The SSP will be working with schools towards strengthening existing links and developing new programmes with local sports clubs, to promote opportunities for young people to engage in sport, through coaching, officiating and performance.
