Swinton's Gifted, Show Sporting Talent

Teachers from Kilnhurst Primary, St. Thomas Church of England School, Swinton Brookfield, Swinton Queen and Swinton Fitzwilliam Primary were all asked to select between four and eight of their most talented Year Two pupils in Physical Education.

These pupils were then invited to attend three multi skill sessions to further develop their fundamental skills of agility, balance and coordination. Twenty four pupils from the five schools attended each of the sessions and not only did they show massive potential were fantastic ambassadors for their school.

The pupils were all presented with certificates for their achievements and four pupils have been selected to attend a 'Rotherham Gifted and Talented Academy' for Year 2 pupils during the Easter holidays.

The sessions were supported by pupils from Thomas Rotherham College as part of their BTEC National Diploma Qualification. The students lead activities and tests and formed an essential part of identifying the pupils who will continue on to the academy. I would like to thank the students for their hard work and organisation in making the Gifted and Talented sessions run very successfully.

The four pupils who have been selected to attend the multi skill academy will receive letters with further information about the multi-skill academy during the next couple of weeks.
